The UN Young Professionals Program (YPP) 2024 is now open for applications. This program seeks to attract talented young people from different countries. It offers them a chance to start a career as an international civil servant in the UN Secretariat. The program includes an entrance exam and a professional development course for those who succeed. No prior work experience is needed, making it a great opportunity for newcomers. Selected candidates will work at the P-1 or P-2 level.
The program offers a two-year fixed-term contract at a P-1 or P-2 level:
- P-1 Level: Designed for individuals holding a Bachelor’s degree without any prior work experience.
- P-2 Level: Suitable for those possessing a Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of work experience or a Master’s degree without experience.

Eligibility Criteria for the UN YPP 2024
- Citizenship: Candidates must come from one of the eligible countries. (The list of countries is updated each year.)
- Academic Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be 32 years old or younger when they take the exam.
- Language Proficiency: Candidates must be good at English or French.
- Professional Experience: Not needed for YPP.
How the UN YPP Program Works?
Every year, an entrance exam is held. Those who pass will be considered for the YPP.

- Political Affairs, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Affairs
- Human Resources, Administration, and Management
- Finance & Budget
Job Type, Contract Level & Duration
- Selected candidates will receive a two-year fixed contract at the P-1 or P-2 level.
- If their performance is good, they may get a permanent contract.
What Does P-1/P-2 Mean?
- P-1 and P-2 are entry-level professional positions at the UN.
- These positions do not require extensive work experience.
Work Location & Duty Station
Candidates must be ready to work at any UN duty station or field operation for at least two years.
