Have you thought about interning at the European Parliament? Applications are now open for the 2024-25 Traineeships at the European Parliament. They offer two types of traineeships: Schuman traineeships (in the Secretariat) and Traineeships with Members of the European Parliament. Each year, about 800 Schuman trainees are selected. This chance is available to students from both European and non-European countries.

Schuman Traineeships
This traineeship is in the Secretariat at one of the European Parliament’s main offices. These offices are in Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, or in Liaison Offices across EU Member States. The program helps trainees learn how EU institutions and the European Parliament work. There are opportunities in many areas, such as policy-making, finance, law, administration, communication, IT, logistics, and multilingualism.
Eligibility Criteria for Schuman Traineeships
- Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, with no maximum age restriction.
- Open to citizens of EU Member States and countries seeking EU membership.
- A restricted number of spots are available for candidates from non-EU nations.
- Must have finished at least three years of university education (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree).
Internships with European Parliament Members
Members of the European Parliament can offer paid internships at their offices in Brussels or Strasbourg. This experience helps trainees learn about the Parliament’s daily work and how decisions are made.
Requirements for Internships with European Parliament Members
- Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old, with no maximum age restriction.
- Open to citizens of EU Member States and countries seeking EU membership.
- Positions may also be available to candidates from non-EU nations.
- Must have finished at least three years of university education (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree).
Financial Benefits and Support
- A monthly grant to cover living expenses.
- A travel allowance of €300 per trainee.

- A duplicate of your university degree.
- A photocopy of a current passport or ID card.
- A recent criminal record certificate issued no more than six months prior to the traineeship commencement.
