Applications for the Lee Kong Chian Research Fellowship 2025 have started in Singapore. There is no tuition to pay for the program which takes place in Singapore over six months. Fellows will live and work in the National Library Board’s Lee Kong Chian Reference Library for the full program.
You do not have to pay any application fee to use our platform. The program pays for a fellow’s ticket, living place, regular allowance and purchase of a one-way ticket from the country of origin. The center helps with research into Singapore itself, its background and related areas.
You can find valuable rare books, maps and writings about Singapore and Southeast Asia at the Lee Kong Chian Library.

Focus Areas for Fellowships
Visitors can find many historical books, maps and manuscripts about Singapore and its surroundings thanks to the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library. Examples of these are:
- Singapore’s first ever printed books
- Stories from the first European explorers
- Famous Singaporean writers’ historical maps and books
- The National Archives of Singapore preserve plenty of materials from the government, as well as from individuals and overseas states.
- The fellowship supports scholars and researchers in exploring these documents for their academics. Students working on PhD projects are especially welcome to use this resource.

- It is important that you possess strong research or academic qualifications.
