The Master’s degree programme International Law of Security, Peace and Sustainable Development (ILSPSD) offers a choice of study for students who are interested in gaining an understanding of the world’s challenges as seen from a legal, political and sustainability perspective. Students start to learn at Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany. They can follow either the LL.M. or M.A. track in International Law of Security, Peace and Sustainable Development.

ILSPSD Scholarship Semester 2 – Spain

In the second semester, students continue their studies at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) in Barcelona, Spain.

During the semester, the emphasis will be placed on theories of international security, and elective courses will be available in the following areas:

  • Human Rights and Education
  • Law and Practice of the United Nations
  • The European Union’s Human Rights legislation.
  • International Criminal Law

ILSPSD Scholarship Semester 3 – Specialization

In the third semester students choose a specialization at one of four cooperation universities:

  • University of Glasgow, UK – International Law and International Security Home Page
  • Institutions: Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium – Security and Conflict
  • Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Portugal – Globalization, Law and Security
  • International Law and Human Rights (University of Tartu, Estonia)

This concentration enables students to pursue more advanced study in a discipline of their academic and career interests.

ILSPSD Scholarship Semester 4 – Dissertation

The last semester is primarily spent in research and dissertation. The students usually write their dissertation at the university of study in the third semester. Students may also be able to do a work placement depending on opportunities available.

ILSPSD Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The Erasmus Mundus ILSPSD Scholarship 2027’s academic and language criteria must be fulfilled by applicants. Generally, applicants should:

  • Have an accredited undergraduate degree with completion.
  • Have at least 180 ECTS credits or an equivalent qualification.
  • Have an undergraduate degree which leads to Master’s studies in the country of award.
  • Participate in and satisfy the academic prerequisites for the chosen specialization.
  • Meet the necessary English language ability standards.
  • Submit the necessary application forms in good time.
  • Take a course in other language(s) as needed for the chosen study track.
