Applications are open to a fully funded residency program in Tokyo Japan TOKAS International Creators Program 2026. This new spectacular program will offer artists, curators, and researchers all over the world to live, create and research their work in Japan. There are three types of programs provided in the Japan TOKAS International Creators Program 2026, that is, the International Creator Residency Program, Curator Residency Program, and Research Residency Program. Both provide the experience in different fields in creativity and are unique. It accepts a maximum of 3-month residency and the entire cost of residence is waived and there is no application fee. This will be a good opportunity to get yourself surrounded by the art and culture in Tokyo. Types of programs:

1. Global Producer Residency Scheme

To enable the artists to practice and collaborate in the visual arts, film, design and architecture in Tokyo.

2. Curatorial Residency Program

Curators, cultural critics and researchers take their work to the next level in their new cultural environment.

3. Residency Program 2026

It is available to all domestic and foreign candidates to research on the arts and culture of Tokyo in different creative fields.

Residency Timeline

The participants are free to select any of the following 3-month sessions:

• September 2026- November 2026
• Jan 2027- March 2027

Eligibility Criteria

Students welcome to apply are those of any country.

• International Creator Program:

• Has to live abroad of Japan
• more than 5 years of work experience
• English speaker
• Duo entries will be accepted (one of the members has to live outside the country)
• Open not to the students (except Ph.D. candidates)

• Curator Program:

• Have to reside out of Japan
• Experience of 3 years or above
• English speaking
• Single-user applications Solo applications only
• Students whose admissions depend largely on the ability to pay

• Research Program:

• It is open to any local or international candidates
• Good research proposal demanded
• not usually accessible to students, except the candidates
