Applications are now being accepted for Ph.D, Master’s, and Bachelor’s programs starting in September 2025.

This full scholarship is sponsored by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). It will fully pay your fees, accommodation, and other living expenses. Thus, you will not have to worry about anything because you will study in Japan.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the APU MEXT (UR) Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:

Nationality: Be a student from any country that falls under MEXT’s list of eligible countries.

Age: born on or after April 2, 1990.

Academic Record: at least 12 credit hours for a semester or equivalent 

English Proficiency: Attach English language test scores, be it TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or PTE, taken on or after March 22, 2023, with your application or submit a certificate from the English medium institution that trained you.

How to Apply for the APU MEXT Scholarship? 

Submit Your Online Application: Ensure you fill all sections of the form before submission (by 13th November 2024). Do not wait until the last minute; submitting it as early as possible is better.

University Evaluation: The application process at APU will check your eligibility and notify you of the decision.

All the supporting documentation, including the English language requirement, mark sheets, examinee recommendations, etc., must be produced along with the application.

Exception for English Proficiency

If you pursued your education in an institution where the medium of instruction was English, you could write a letter of language proficiency in place of the scores.
