Faculty Programs Offered: 

Students intending to enroll in any undergraduate program for the Fall 2025 term may do so under the following faculties:

  • Institution of Science and Art Education
  • Business, Engineering, Nursing, Law, Medicine, and Dentistry
  • Environmental, biological, and agricultural sciences
  • Recreation, Sport, and Kinesiology

Scholarships That Don’t Require Separate Application

The following scholarships will be directly evaluated for the admissions application:

International Excellence Scholarship: Up to CAD 5,000 will be awarded to exceptional international students based on an evaluation of their academic achievement.

Regional Excellence Scholarship: CAD 5,000 is awarded to outstanding students from specific locations.

Gold Standard Scholarship: Up to CAD 6,000 will be awarded to the top 5% of applicants in each department.

Application-based Scholarships

Entrance scholarships open to applications after a student has been admitted into a program include the following:

President’s International Distinction Scholarship: up to CAD 120,000 student award for extraordinary leadership and outstanding academic skills

Chan Pang Kuen Memorial International Distinction Scholarship: up to CAD 120,000 for students with eminent academic merit and leadership qualities. 

May Quon Undergraduate Scholarship: up to CAD 100,000 for Chinese or Hong Kong students with high grades and demonstrate financial need. 

University of Alberta Global Citizen Scholarship: up to CAD 53,000 each year for IB Diploma students from Aga Khan Academies, proving leadership and financial need.

To be eligible for the scholarships, candidates need to:

  • Apply to Alberta University’s undergraduate program.
  • Follow the entrance requirements and turn in all required paperwork.
  • Verify any applicable special English language requirements.

Yes, students from other countries can apply for University of Alberta scholarships. Outstanding learners may be eligible to win up to CAN $5,000, depending on their entrance average.

Students enrolled in approved Canadian higher education institutions with valid study visas are eligible for the Regional Excellence Scholarship. Students can get up to CAN $5000 if their entrance grade is 80% or better.

Qualified graduate learners will receive CAN $12,000 as a one-time award from this program. The Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship cannot be updated, and candidates are only eligible to earn one yearly award.
